UEFA and Malta FA Hand Out CASH BOOST to Fix Battered Football Clubs After Storm Harry Disaster
MALTESE football grounds left shattered by ferocious Storm Harry are finally getting a lifeline—and European football chiefs are footing the bill!
A staggering 24 local clubs were left counting the cost when the savage storm ripped across the island in January 2026, wrecking pitches and destroying facilities. But football bosses have answered the call with a whopping total relief package of €32,386.
UEFA Steps Up—But Malta FA Plugs the Gap!
European football body UEFA pledged €28,000 to the emergency fund. However, when the final repair bills flooded in from the 24 hit clubs, the cash pot fell short!
Stepping up to save the day, the Malta Football Association (MFA) whipped out their own checkbook to throw in an extra €4,386, ensuring every single club gets the full amount they are owed.
“Through this initiative, the Malta FA is supporting clubs in addressing the damage caused by Storm Harry and assisting them in restoring their facilities.”
How Much Cash Are Clubs Getting?
Under the relief scheme, the payout will cover 40% of eligible repair costs, capped at a maximum of €4,000worth of damage per club. That means affected teams can pocket a welcome payout of up to €1,600 to help rebuild their battered grounds.
The crucial funding means local grassroots football can bounce back after one of the worst storm disruptions in recent years.
