Mendoza, widely regarded as one of the most reliable and consistent central midfielders in Maltese football, arrives at the club bringing a wealth of elite experience, composure, and dynamic midfield presence.

The 33-year-old earned his footballing education in Portugal, starting in the prestigious youth system of Portuguese giants FC Porto before continuing his senior career with Quarteirense. In 2018, Mendoza arrived in Malta after sealing a transfer to Santa Lucia FC, where his impressive individual displays quickly caught the attention of the league’s top sides.

His form secured him a move to Gżira United, where he spent five highly successful seasons as an integral part of the Maroons’ midfield. During his stint at Gżira, Mendoza established himself as one of the standout players in the domestic league, renowned for his tactical awareness and ability to dictate the tempo of matches. He subsequently joined Valletta FC, adding the prestigious FA Trophy to his honors list during his time with the Citizens.

Known for his tireless work rate, intelligence, and composure under pressure, Mendoza is expected to play a central role in Birżebbuġa’s campaign as they look to build a formidable squad for the top flight.
