Żabbar St. Patrick SACK Legend Gilbert Agius in Mutual Split!

Żabbar St. Patrick Football Club has parted ways with Head Coach Gilbert Agius by “mutual agreement,” sending shockwaves through the Malta Premier League.

The Maltese football legend walked away from the hot seat after pulling off a miraculous escape from relegation last season. Agius took charge when the Saints were dead broke on points—sitting on zero after a nightmare five-game losing streak in the Closing Round.

Against all odds, Agius rallied his squad, turned the club’s fortunes around, and pulled off a sensational miracle escape to keep Żabbar in Malta’s top flight. His dramatic rescue mission ensured the club secured its place in the Premier League for a third consecutive season.

In a emotional club statement, Żabbar St. Patrick praised the departing boss: “Coach Gilbert took charge at a particularly challenging moment… He showed great courage in accepting the challenge and, together with his staff and the squad, helped turn the situation around and ultimately secure the Club’s Premier League status.”

“Throughout his tenure, Gilbert demonstrated true professionalism, dedication and commitment to the Club, and we sincerely thank him for his work.”

Despite writing a dramatic chapter in the club’s history books, the heroic gaffer is packing his bags. Żabbar bosses confirmed a brand-new head coach will be named “in due course” as they prepare for a wild new chapter.

Where will Gilbert Agius land next, and who steps up to take the Saints’ hot seat? Stay tuned!
